Welcome to Baby Land

So, I was told the baby was going to come early, or rather that there was a good chance that he would. Well like the story of my life, that's not the case. I'm glad that the baby seems to be growing healthily, though, and that I haven't had to go on bed rest. And for this reason I have been able to work on the baby room. I made a list of all the things I wanted to do for the room and got so excited every time I crossed things off. But when I made the list I knew that I wouldn't get it finished before the baby came so I worked the most important off first. When I got all the important things done and still no baby I slowed down a lot cause I stopped caring if the rest got done. Well much to my surprise, I got everything crossed off the list (except for making the stuffed animals, the fabric was never the right price). I finished today and now you all get to see it. I went a little nuts, but I have always had a passion for decorating and with this being my first baby and having had more time then I thought... you have to understand.

This is the view from the door way.

This is my little zoo on the wall. This is one of the things that I put on the list but never really thought I'd do. I made them out of card board boxes, scrapbook paper and mod podge. Took a good two days to do but it was way cheap, and pretty fun. I also made the board hanging on the wall to hold pictures of our families and memories. Something to stare at in the middle of the night.
The ceilings in our house are really high which is nice but the eye naturally goes up. I tried to make a visual break by putting this rod there and wrapping it in jungle leaves. Also, I had this really cute lamp that I've had for years and years that I got for five bucks. I've changed the fabric on it for everyone of my redecorating needs. Mark likes the lamp but didn't think I could put it up above the rocker because of the ceiling and the cord. Putting this rod up provided the visual break, a place to hang lamp, hide the cord, and even a place for the monkey to hang. Kinda excessive but I like it a lot, especially now that Mark had to eat his own words.

This is the quilt that I showed just the beginning of months ago. It was the first thing that I completed for the room. I didn't even let myself buy the fabric for the rest of the room until this was completed because I knew that if I bought something else I would start on it and this would never get done (I'm kinda known for not finishing projects). I was nervous about how it would turn out but I'm not going to lie, I'm very proud of it.

This is the bedding set that I made. I knew I was going to go crazy with the jungle theme in the rest of the room and I didn't want to go overkill with the bed. And with it not having a theme it means I can use it for any future sons that we may have.

Here's the changing table. I looked everywhere for one like this. Someday, when the baby doesn't need one I will just remove the pad and it's a chest of drawers. Also the cabinet can turn into a tiny closet and I can't let go of the storage space in the room's real closet.

This is the diaper bag and accessories I made. I got Mark's OK on the fabric so he won't be embarrassed to carry it sometimes. There's the portable changing pad that is covered in vinyl so I can sanitize it, and two quicky bags. I'm making a matching hooter hider and binky clips as well.

This is the way the room will look for the time being. The rocking chair that was in the corner is in the master bedroom and this bed is here for my mom, she'll be staying with us for the first week just to help in all the ways that I don't even know of yet.

This is the baby's nook in the master. The bassinet is so old, but I refused to buy one because the baby isn't going to be in it for very long and I don't want to store it for however many years. So I made a cover for it.

Holy Crafty Woman!! There is NO WAY I could have gone through all that effort! The room looks amazing and I think it is awesome that you created it all by hand. That is way way more than I could ever do!
