Barbies

When I was a girl I loved Barbies.  I mean I LOVED Barbies.  I played with them probably too long but that's ok.  My friend and I would build houses and furniture out of cardboard boxes and all sorts of dumb stuff.  We had really good imaginations.  Anyway, my friend has a little girl and she is letting me help her make a Barbie house.  This has always been my dream and it's good research for when I build one for my future daughter.  We've been all over the internet trying to find a great deal on furniture and appliances for Barbie.  I've been coming across a lot of the things that I used to play with.  It is taking me back to a time that was simple and sweet.  A time when I dreamed of having a big house and being a mom with a tiny waist and a beautiful blond family.  A time when a husband would come home from work with flowers and say "Honey, I'm home"  and I would have dinner on the table (cardboard table) and the kids would tell us about their day.  We would go to lavish parties in beautiful ball gowns and life was so wonderful and romantic.  I've often dreamed since of going back to that life and how wonderful life used to be.  How simple life was playing barbies in the basement.  I have a great memory, I've loved having a good memory.  Not forgetting moments in my life have brought smiles to me when I've been sad.  But sometimes it keeps me down.  Here I've been wishing to go back and I'm missing the life that I dreamed about back then.  No I'm not married to Ken, I'm married to a man far beyond what I ever dreamed ken was.  No I don't have a daughter right now, I've got a beautiful little toddler named Scott how makes me laugh and smile more then Barbie ever did.  I don't have a big cardboard house, I've got a tiny little cinder block apartment that has become a loving home.
I'm so grateful for my Childhood filled of dreaming a beauty.  I'm even more grateful for a life better then I dreamed back then.
