Scott is growing up. I know, it looks like he's been grown for a while, which is why we think he has taken so long to walk. He was around twenty pounds when he turned 9 months old. He has always had a big head (always in the 90th % in head circumference). And that's a lot to carry and balance around. But I think it also has to do with his temperment. I think he's a bit like his mom, who has great balance but also very careful. He has been standing for a good long time, even able to stand in the middle of the room without any help from person or objects. He will do squats from dropping and picking things up just fine. And when he started taking steps we were thrilled but he didn't connect that he could use it instead of crawling to get around. I know, he's only 14 months old and in the big picture that doesn't really matter but it mattered to us. He's our first child, who doesn't want their first child do hurry up and develop and and grow? And when there are 5 girls that are younger then Scott that live in your ward that are all walking it's almost frustrating. This is why we think his weight was working against him, all the girls are super tiny and don't have as much to carry and balance ( I realize this isn't always true). We also got the feeling he could walk a lot sooner then when he started, he just didn't want to.
Well all this to say that Scott is walking now. He is still kinda shaky but I know he'll be running in no time. One day I looked over and he was walking to get something without Mark and to encourage him. He just decided to start doing it. Mark and I are so proud of him. He is so much fun to play with when walking.
Here he is in his toy box, no longer falling in to get things but climbing in.
Here he is just being cute, sticking buckets on his head.
Waving hi.
Smiling for the camera.
I can't get enough of this kid. He should be drinking his milk so he can go to bed but he couldn't stop playing. When we finally do get him in bed and asleep we love to go check on him and make sure he's still cute. If he crys in the middle of the night and wont go back to sleep on his own, we fight over who get's to go get him. We love being parents to this beautiful baby.
