Thanx, I think...

What ever happened to Thanksgiving? People seem to realize that there is going to be a big meal this Thursday but are we remembering why?
I work at a retail store and I've seen this holliday be completely skipped. I saw Halloween go up and I saw Christamas go up, but I saw no Thanksgiving. Halloween is gone now and Christams has been up for almost a month, which is long enough for it to already be 50% off.
Not only is it retail, it's people. People have had their Christmas decor up for a while now. I don't get it. What is wrong with letting Halloween last all October long and then celebrating the thankful heart all November long (well till Thanksgiving anyway) and then we can jump full forse into Christmas. This belief may have been brought apon by my mom. She had a tradition of waiting till the day after Thanksgiving to put Christmas up. We also would go to the movies that day too. We had so much fun decorating the tree. That day was almost as fun as Christmas day. She still does it. That Friday used to be one of the best days of the year, now it's Black Friday. The other thing she would do was take all the Christmas decor down the day after Christmas. I guess she realizes that to everything there is a season. So don't forget to give thanks, after all, 'tis the season.

A Special Thanx
I also just wanted to give thanks for a few things.
The biggest thing I'm grateful for is the Gospel in my life. It is the root of everything good in my life. Which brings me to my Mark. He is the most amazing man I know on this earth and I owe all my smiles and laughter to him. I'm grateful for my family who have supported me through all my ruff years (there were a lot) and they have helped bring me to my happiest ones. And who could forget my freinds. I'm so grateful for my friends, old and new, you all have stood by and watched me be stupid and if you laughed at me, it's ok, Mark nursed me through it. jk. Seriously, thank you all so much. I love you all.

Hey, come on, don't knock us crazies who have our Christmas stuff up early! :) I just put our stuff up early 'cause we are going to Utah before Christmas, so I wanted to enjoy our tree and decorations longer. But don't worry, I still give Thanksgiving it's proper attention. I love Thanksgiving and never skip it!

I couldn't agree more. I think it's bullsh*t that radio stations started playing Christmas music right after Halloween, and I boycotted every one that did.
I also think that the more we merge Thanksgiving and Christmas and just label it "The Holidays", the less we focus on the meaning behind each individual holiday.
We're a greedy, self-centered society who'll trample and kill Wal-Mart employees to save $20 on a damn Christmas gift, and it pisses me off.
