Today is Pioneer Day in.
One of my all time favorite days.
I love my pioneer heritage.
I love that one of my ancestors came across the plains.
I love being a Mormon.
I love living in Salt Lake City.
Today, 164 years ago, the saints came through Emigration Canyon and Brigham Young said, "This is the place".
It took the Pioneers a year and a half to make their way to their new home.
I've been reading a lot about the pioneers lately and all that went on before the fateful move.
This has made me so grateful for my faith.
It also brings to my attention the extreme amount of blessings I have in my life.
I realize how easy I have things today and so much of it has to do with their sacrifices.
I envy so much the sacrifices they made.
I know that sounds silly but I envy them because those sacrifices led to so many blessing.
Blessing that probably didn't show themselves till they died.
I know that I am not worthy to meet my ancestors because I have not sacrificed half as much as they did.
Seriously, I couldn't even survive living in a 650 square foot apartment and they were kicked out of their homes over and over again and lived in tents with their huge families.
I don't know if I could live that faith.
Today, I honor them and all that they sacrificed.
Today, I recommit myself to learning more about sacrifice and handling it in a more Christ like way, a more pioneer like way.
Today, I am grateful for my blessings in a new way.
