We left Bryce on Wednesday and experienced the most beautiful 3 hour drive that I think I've ever been on.
We drove through Escalante National Monument which was incredible but I we had a hard time figuring out what the world considered a staircase.
From then on we saw "staircases" everywhere.
We also drove through Dixie National Forest.
It is incredible country.
Like I said it was a great drive.
We got to Capitol Reef and thought this place is nice but it wasn't our favorite.
We only planned a day there because we hadn't ever heard that people had been there.
Now I know why.
It was quite beautiful but it had little pieces of all the other parks.
Like the many who does a little of everything well but nothing really well.
One of the things I really liked about Capitol Reef is that a few of the walks started far off the road.
It was a dirt road but it took us pretty far into the wilderness.
I was most happy for this because I think we were ready for a slower pace.
We took a nice long drive and go these few pictures.
This was my favorite mountain.
I named it "Red Ribon Velvet Cake Mountain"
It is so interesting how these mountains dissolve, layer by layer, with holes running through, into hoodoos, and even into a tower cake.
We did do one hike after Scott's nap, Cassidy Arch .
Sorry for all the behind shots of my boys.
I told Mark he shouldn't leave the camera with me.
I can't help it, I think they are so adorable hand in hand.
We let Scott do a lot of the walks.
He loved the dirt and the exercise and most especially...
...the Arches.
Even Capitol Reef had a few.
We didn't want to go back to the beginning of the park when we needed to go through it.
So we stopped at the visitors center and took a picture there for our "stamp".
This only means that we will need to go back.
To do more hikes but also to get the proper picture in front of the proper sign.
Not my favorite but we still had great time.
