He Speaks

Scott's communication is an on going issue and process.  But it is progressing.  He has been saying some cute things lately that I needed to record.
He was eating lunch one day, a sandwich and apple sauce and after I had given it to him I went to put some things away in the other room.  With him not talking I don't usually have an ear turned on to his voice, I'm still getting used to it.  Well he was yelling for me and when I finally heard it this is what he was yelling, "Mom, come here!  Mom, I spilled!  I spilled mom, come here!"  I felt so bad that I wasn't tuned into him talking but then again, if I was I would have come in right when he yelled "mom" and he wouldn't have said the other stuff.  I came in the room to see that he had spilled his apple sauce on the ground.  I was so proud of him for talking and in sentences that I could care less that I had to clean up the apple sauce on a floor that I had just mopped that morning.
Another thing that he says is "I'm right here".  When he thinks that I'm leaving him, he yells this to remind me that he's not leaving with me.  This is not his way of saying, "I'm staying right here", it's his way of saying, "I'm here, you're going over there, why aren't you taking me with you?"  He yells it at me, screams it at me, crys it at me.  When I'm not really leaving him it's funny, but when I really am walking out the door without him it's so sweet and heart breaking.  Such a momma's boy he is.
He also has started saying "Can I have it?"  This is a question but, he doesn't understand that.  There is one specific time that he kept saying this to me.  We were in the car and I stopped at McDonalds to get a drink.  He loves soda and wanted it from me.  Like any good mom I told him no, only mom's are allowed to have soda in a daily diet, not kids. J/K.  Well his "Can I have it?" turned into demands, but the words stayed the same.  He was yelling at me and I knew that his tone was saying more then his vocabulary would let him.  It sounded more like, "Give it to me right now or I will make this car ride a living hell for you."  But I found it completely hilarious.  Poor guy, he has such a hard time being taken seriously because of how cute he is.
